Installation of skylights - before you choose skylights for your house and decide on their layout, take into account the functions of the room and the needs of the residents.
• What is this space? Bedroom, bathroom, staircase, living room, etc.
• Remember – the more daylight enters the room, the bigger it will look.
• Consider increasing the window size or combining them.
• Consider the shape and size of the room when choosing the number of windows and their location. In a deep room, it is better to place the windows higher on the roof. A row of windows should be placed in a wider room with equal intervals between them.

Natural light is very important in every home

The more of them, the better. The one in the house you can never have too many windows. Skylights can be installed individually or in window blocks. The result is excellent. When choosing the number of windows and their sizes, we recommend following a simple calculation: in rooms where residents spend most of the day, the ratio of glazing area to floor area should be 15%, while in rooms that are used less during the day, such as bedrooms, the glazing area can be 10 % of the floor area. It is important to remember that the distance between the rafters must be 6 cm greater (3 cm on each side) than the width of the window for the correct installation of skylights. If horizontal gaps are required in the construction, the distance between gaps should be determined taking into account the width of the column finish.

All skylights must be installed with a mounting connection. It is made to suit all roof coverings and provides a watertight seal between the VELUX roof window and the roofing material.

The most popular types of connection are suitable for most roof coverings. The type of connection must be chosen depending on the height of the roofing profile.

Combined connections are designed when skylights are built into blocks in different combinations. Windows placed next to each other should have the same length, while windows placed one above the other should have the same width.

To avoid the risks of melting snow and ice, VELUX offers customers
equip skylights with a special protection kit. This kit reduces the formation of ice and snow blockages on the lower part of the window and reduces the possibility of water seeping into the premises.

Installation of skylights - our works:

Fakro PTP-V made of multi-chamber PVC profile in white color, which is reinforced from the inside with galvanized steel profiles, fits perfectly into the white design. Installation of roof windows: bitumen shingle, a block of two windows next to each other, interior decoration and installation of Fakro ARF blinds was done by the customer himself.

Velux Cabrio balcony GDL 3066 turns a skylight into a balcony in a few seconds and Velux GLL 1061 skylights with better energy efficiency and increased comfort were built into a complex object with an old tin roof (rolled profile).

Fakro FTP-V U4 energy-efficient two-chamber skylights with hinges in the middle of the sash, top-quality, layer-by-layer glued pine wood, impregnated in a vacuum chamber and window parts covered with two layers of ecological acrylic varnish. Designed for installation in roofs with a slope from 15° to 90°. In this object, RUUKKI roof covering ADAMANTE with a profile height of 55mm was installed.

PVC roof window Okpol installation in a metal trapezoidal roof covering. The window frame is moisture-resistant and UV-resistant, the material from which the profile is made makes it extremely practical - they do not require maintenance. Thanks to the additional filling with polyurethane foam, it provides comfort and warmth in the attic.
